Nail Tutorial #1 – Bold Stripes

Hey Guys,

So today I thought I would do a nail tutorial. This tutorial is called “Bold Stripes” as it is simply 3 stripes on your nails. It’s really easy and simple for beginners but also has a really nice look to it. Obviously, I’m not a nail artist but thought this would be nice anyway 🙂 Let’s get on with it!

What You Need:

  • fotor_(4)Two nail polish colours (I used Rimmel London 809 and 17 Fast Finish, Nightshade)
  • Sellotape
  • Scissors (to cut the tape)
  • Nail polish remover

Step 1:
Use nail polish remover to take off any chips of nail polish left on from before and then apply a base coat. For me, I didn’t put a base coat on as I find that it chips easily, however you can apply one at this step.

Step 2:fotor_(5)
Apply the base colour. I used Rimmel London 809 Darling, You Are Fabulous!. Apply two coats to allow the colour to pop out. I also switched the colours around on my ring finger as an accent. For this, I used the 17 Fast Finish in Nightshade.

Step 3:fotor_(7)
Wait for it to dry and then take a strip of Sellotape and cut it into thirds (it doesn’t have to be exact), and place across the middle of each nail. You don’t want it to be too small though as you still want to see the base colour bellow it.

Step 4:fotor_(8)
Paint the second colour (for me the 17 Fast Finish in Nightshade or Rimmel London 809) over the top of both the tape and the nail. Apply a couple coats to allow the top coat the same boldness as the bottom one.

Tip: If your bottom colour is darker than the top one, you will need to paint a few layers
to make the top colour stand out more.

Step 5:
When the nail polish is about half dry, carefully pull off the tape to reveal the bottom colour.

There we go! You can use any colours you want, I just used back and gold because they are very contrasting, which I really like. This also works with pastel colours or vibrant colours as well.

Thanks for reading and I’ll post again soon!
